Masinagudi (Mudumalai ) is a wildlife sanctuary located in Tamil Nadu in the southern part of India. Masinagudi or Madumalai is exactly located at the meeting point of three states, called Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Located in amidst of Nilgiris forest, this place is known for its wildlife sanctuary and it is considered one of therichest wildlife
sanctuaries in southern India.

The wildlife sanctuary at Masinagudi is also a home to many endangered species of plants, animals and birds.

Apart from these animals, many tpes of birds more than 200 in number birds found at Masinagudi. The sanctuary is also home to a diverse range of plant life. Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary has three types of forest that include tropical moist deciduous, tropical dry deciduous and southern tropical dry thorn forests.

  1. Very useful post. As for the Fauna, one can find a wide range of birds, fishes, reptiles and animals over there. There are more than 50 fish species, 21 amphibian species, 34 reptile species, 227 bird species and 55 mammal species. So, one would be able to find the leopards, hyenas, Jackal, Sloth Bear, elephants, langur, Macaque, Sambar Deer, Gaur deer, Chital Deer, Wild boar, squirrels, pythons, cobras, flying lizards etc. Other than the animals, one would also be able to spot birds such as Grey headed Bulbul, Woodpeckers of different species, Hornbills, Nilgiri Wood Pigeon, Cuckoo, Thrush, Owl, Swallows and many more birds.   2. Nice blog on Masinaguli Wild life. Masinaguli is part of the five ranges – Masinagudi, Thepakadu, Mudumalai, Kargudi and Nellakota of the sanctuary and is cousin of Mudumalai wildlife sanctuary. There exists amazing places to visit in Mudumalai along with the Sanctuary mentioned, which attracts a huge crowd of travelers every year.
