Mysore Tourist Attractions

Mysore is a great tourist destination which attracts many tourists. Mysore  is one among the third-largest city in state of Karnataka, India which served as the capital city of Mysore Princely Kingdom. It is Located at the base of the Chamundi Hills about 146 km (91 mi) southwest of the state capital Bangalore, it is spread across an area of 128.42 km2. Mysore is also called as the "City of Palaces".

Over the years Mysore has attracted many tourists from all over the world to enjoy the splendour of Mysore City. This is home to more than 5 dozen bird species , both local and migratory. You can easily spot on the fringes of the lake ducklings, darters and during the winter season, pelicans, painted storks, spoon bills , to name a few.

Brindavan Gardens


The Brindavana Gardens is popular tourist destination in Mysore. It lies adjoining the Krishnarajasagara dam which is built across the river Kaveri. The work on laying out this garden was started in the year 1927 and completed in 1932. And it is around 480 Km from Chennai and 150 Km from Bangalore.

The Brindavan Gardens, adjoining the Krishna Raja Sagar Dam, is one of the beautiful and well maintained gardens in Myore India, spread over a vast area. The combination of the colourful plants and flowers is a beauty to watch by the day and the water fountains dancing to the music in the weekends, make up the evenings.

The Regional Museum of Natural History at Mysore is popular museum in India. The museum in India with exhibits on plants, animals and geology of the southern region of India. Theis museum is located on the banks of Karanji Lake, with the Chamundi Hills visible in the background. this museum also provides an extracurricular activity for schools and promotes environmental awareness.

Krishna Raja Sagara

Krishna Raja Sagara is also popularly known as KRS and is also called Kannambadi Anekattu, is the name of both a lake and the dam that creates it. It is located close to the settlement of Krishnarajasagara. 

KRS was built by Sir Mokshagundam Vishweswaraiah (Sir M V) the greatest engineer of his time in 1932. The dam maximum storage level of 124.80 ft. and its gross storage capacity is 49.45tmcft. it is built across River Kaveri. Here, River Hemavathi and River Lakshmanatheertha join Kaveri in its divine journey of around 800Kms right across South India.
